Supermodel Naomi Campbell faces backlash after seeming to question whether adopted children are in fact 'real' children. Last May, the 51-year-old model revealed in an interview that she had become a mother to a baby girl. The circumstances surrounding the birth of this child were left vague, leaving many of her fans to wonder whether the child had been adopted. When asked to clarify details surrounding the birth of her daughter in a recent interview in British Vogue, Campbell simply replied "She wasn't adopted- she's my child."
Whether Campbell was simply careless with her words or angry that fans assumed she had adopted a child is not clear. What is evident is that people who care about adoption will take exception to statements that seem to imply that adopted children are anything less than real children.
